What to expect

Before the session, you will be asked to fill out a  3 day food diary (or share three days of food intake if tracking via an app) and advise why you want to see a nutritionist.

By analysing your current diet and health goals, I can advise action points to help you thrive. During our 30 minute session, there will also be a chance for you to ask questions about foods, food habits, and different diets/supplements you would like to know more about.

The following day you will receive a revised 3 day food diary, recipes and handouts to help you implement the dietary suggestions discussed during our session.

FAQ

Is there a minimum number of sessions I need to commit to?

I offer consultation via 3 different plans, with the 8 week and 12 week plans consisting of 3 and 6 sessions respectively. Three sessions is the minimum needed to achieve tangible results, which is why there isn’t a plan shorter than 8 weeks (other than the diet review). I would encourage committing to the 12 week/6 session plan, but 3 sessions is a great starting point. Further sessions can be booked ad hoc if needed. The diet review service consists of 1 appointment and a catch-up call a month after and is for clients who wish to review and seek a professional opinion of their current diet, but is not suitable to address health conditions.

How long would it take to see results?

Nutritional Therapy aims to create long lasting change. Those changes will be gradual but definitive, differently from allopathic medicine that aims to suppress symptoms for immediate relief. As each person is unique, also the speed on which results will be obtained is different and this is also impacted by how closely the suggested nutritional and supplemental plan is followed.

Will I get supplement recommendation with every plan?

The main source of nutrients is wholefoods, and the plans are aimed to provide adequate nutrient levels for each client. Supplementation may be recommended only for a short period of time in case of significant nutrient deficiencies or to kick start your body systems. Food Power Nutrition does not have any affiliation with any supplement company and specific supplements are suggested because of their unique therapeutic properties.

Do I have to pay the whole fee for packages in one go?

Packages’ payments will be divided monthly and an upfront payment is required to access the sessions.

What is the cancellation policy?

Understanding we all lead busy lives, I can reschedule or cancel appointments without any charge if communicated with more than 48 hours notice. Appointments cancelled or rescheduled within 48 hours of the consultation time will be charged at 50%. Appointments cancelled or reschedule within 24 hours of your appointment time will be charged at 100%. A delay of more than 15 minutes for your consultation will lead to the appointment being cancelled and charged at 100%.

Does Food Power Nutrition operates only online?

Food Power provides online consultations via a dedicated platform. Online consultations will be held via telehealth/zoom and can be easily accessed via the client’s “Practice Better” portal. In person consultations will be held on Saturday am at Clerkenwell Chiropractic Clinic, 178 Goswell Rd, London EC1V 7DT- click here for the map

What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. Nutritional therapy practitioners use a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows them to work with individuals to address nutritional balance and help support the body towards maintaining health. Nutritional therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine. It is relevant both for individuals looking to enhance their health and wellbeing and for those with chronic conditions wishing to work with or ‘consult’ a nutritional therapist in collaboration with other suitably qualified healthcare professionals. Practitioners consider each individual to be unique and recommend personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Practitioners never recommend nutritional therapy as a replacement for medical advice and always refer any client with ‘red flag’ signs or symptoms to their medical professional. They will also frequently work alongside a medical professional and will communicate with other healthcare professionals involved in the client’s care to explain any nutritional therapy programme that has been provided.

What is mBANT?

BANT (British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine) is a professional organisation for Registered Nutritional Therapy Practitioners and Registered Dietitians which are trained and qualified in clinical practice to meet national standards and work in a one-to-one setting.

BANT practitioner members are required to be registered either with Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) or be statutorily regulated. CNHC holds a register accredited by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA), an independent body accountable to the UK Parliament. BANT members are also required to meet Continuing Professional Development (CPD) standards.

Being a BANT member highlights the high standard of my training and work practice, reassuring clients of the quality of the consultations and plans I provide at Food Power Nutrition.
