Genetic Testing FAQ

What is genetic testing?

Genetic testing analyses an individual’s DNA to identify predispositions to health conditions, how they may react to specific nutrients, and how nutrients can influence the expression of specific genes.

Which lab do you use for genetic testing?

All the genetic tests provided are from DNA Life, which was established by two independent companies, Nordic Laboratories and DNAlysis Biotechnology, that together have more than 40 years of experience delivering cutting-edge laboratory tests to clinicians across the globe.

As one of the premier genetic testing laboratories, DNAlife offers an innovative approach to personalised medicine through a suite of nutrigenomic and pharmacogenomic tests developed by a team of geneticists.

What genetic tests does Food Power Nutrition offer?

Food Power Nutrition offers three genetic tests: DNA Core, DNA Gut and DNA Hormones.

DNA Core is the most comprehensive test, providing insights on genes involved in our metabolism, digestion, vitamins and macronutrients absorption and utilisation, bone health, gluten and lactose intolerances, as well as responsiveness, including exercise requirements for mobilisation of fat stores, power and endurance potential, cramping and injury risk, and recovery time.

DNA Gut and DNA Hormone dive deeper into genes involved in gut health and hormonal balance, and can be matched with testing packages for a deeper understanding of the root cause of your health concerns.

How long does it take to receive test results?

Between 14 and 21 days.

How are the samples taken?

Samples are collected via blood spot, which means results are far more accurate than those from saliva swabs.

Can I purchase a genetic test without booking a consultation?

Yes, you can purchase a test via Food Power Nutrition (which will place the test order for you) without booking a consultation.

If you’d like a personalised nutrition plan based on your genetic test results, please book it at the time of purchase. The cost of the 1-hour session to go through the genetic test results and your personalised recommendations is £245.
